In-Person Classes

In-Person Classes

Spend an afternoon cooking with Vessela in her kitchen in Yokohama.

An in-person class is a few unhurried hours of hands-on cooking, good conversation, and the simple pleasure of a shared table. You work side by side with Vessela — hands in the flour, learning the small techniques that make Bulgarian and Japanese home cooking sing — and then everyone sits down together to enjoy what you’ve made.

It is cooking as it’s meant to be: seasonal, generous, and rooted in the belief that the best food is the kind you gather around. You’ll leave nourished, with new skills in your hands and recipes to take home.

An afternoon in the kitchen

  1. Welcome. Arrive to a warm kitchen, a cup of something, and the day’s menu laid out with its fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  2. Cook, hands-on. Work alongside Vessela through each dish — prepping, tasting, and learning the why behind every step, not just the how.
  3. Sit and share. The class ends around the table, eating together everything you’ve cooked — the way every meal in Vessela’s home does.
  4. Take it home. Leave with the recipes, and the confidence to cook them again in your own kitchen.

What you’ll cook

Menus change with the season and the market. A Bulgarian afternoon might bring banitsa, gyuvech, or stuffed peppers with home-set yogurt; a Japanese one, dashi and miso soup from scratch, nikujaga, or karaage. Often a class weaves both traditions together — Vessela’s signature, where one table quietly borrows from the other.

Who it’s for
