Bulgarian Kitchen

A bowl of Bulgarian yogurt with honey and walnuts beside garden vegetables
Kiselo mlyako — Bulgarian yogurt — with honey, walnuts, and the day’s garden vegetables.

Welcome to the kitchen I grew up in—a place where recipes are passed from one generation to the next and every meal brings family and friends together. Here you’ll find the comforting dishes that have graced Bulgarian tables for centuries: hearty moussaka, fragrant vine and cabbage leaf dolmas, rustic stews, nourishing soups, fresh Black Sea fish, colorful seasonal salads, and beloved homemade desserts. Many of these recipes come directly from my mother’s treasured cookbook, lovingly preserved and adapted for today’s kitchen. More than recipes, they are stories of home, tradition, and the joy of sharing a meal.
